Those marketing gurus over at Bacardi sure know how to sample music for their mojito commercials.  You know the one.  No, not the one with all the beautiful people shaking their rears at what looks like a club in Miami.  The other mojito commercial.  The 50s throwback one.  This one.  That musical magic is none other than DayLight by Brooklyn natives, Matt & Kim.  NYCs own synth-and-drums dance punk duo comes to Manhattan at Hudson River Park’s RiverRocks to get things movin’ and shakin’.  Touring almost non-stop since the release of their self-titled 2006 debut, they somehow found time to record the recently released “Grand”. The duo’s legendary live concerts are something to experience!

The pesky weather gods are punishing us with more rainy days in June than ever before, making it feel more like Seattle in Spring.  Well Pinkberry is officially ringing in Summer despite the dreary climate with some new flavors.  We’ve lost track of how many frozen treat offers we’ve posted about (5! We are keeping track) but people seem to love them.  Anticipate waiting in line because this stuff is in high demand.  We suggest ordering some Pinkberry for delivery while you wait.  That’s right, Pinkberry now touts free delivery in NYC (minimum $10 purchase).  Have them delivery it to you in line.  You’ll look like a fro-yo star as you get what seems like preferential treatment.  By the time your done you’ll be at the head of the line and ready for more, for FREE.  Makes perfect sense.

American culture dictates that everything is for sale.  And free food can be used as currency.  This weekend marks the third annual Japan Day!  The event is designed by the Japanese community to promote deeper understanding of Japanese culture and, to say “Thank you, New York!”  You’re welcome Japan, now feed us!  The event hosts tents offering a wide range of Japanese traditional and family-friendly activities, free samples of popular Japanese cuisine and powerful stage performances throughout the day.  Don’t bother searching for General Tso’s chicken and easy on the handshakes.  40K NYers attended last year; one thing we do understand is they’ve mastered NYC marketing 101.
